Little White Chapel

For a day filled with errands like grocery shopping and a post office run, I had to fight the strong urge to wear a white v-neck and cutoffs.  I find that the easiest way to make an otherwise mundane day more exciting is to dress up a little bit.  I chose this F21 blouse and accessories, Vince riding pants, Burberry bag and Jeffrey Campbell clogs.

I am widely known by friends and family as a chocolate fiend, so when I came across a recipe called "Ooey Gooey Peanut Butter Marshmallow Krispie Topped Brownies" I felt it was my duty as a chocoholic to make these as soon as possible.  I know this isn't exactly a food blog, but it would be plain selfish not to share the recipe, so here it is:

1 box of brownie mix (plus any ingredients the box calls for to make them)
4 cups mini marshmallows (usually one regular sized bag)
1 1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup creamy peanut butter
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups crispy rice cereal

•Preheat oven to temperature directed on brownie package
•Line the pan with foil
•Prepare brownies using the ingredients the box calls for.
•Two minutes before they are supposed to be done, take brownies out of the oven and sprinkle the marshmallows evenly over top of brownies.  Let cool completely.
•Prepare topping.  In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter.  Heat on high for 30 seconds.  Stir and repeat until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.  Add cereal and stir to coat.  Drop spoonfuls of chocolate mixture over the marshmallow layer, spreading as evenly as possible.  Things will look gooey at this point, so refrain from cutting them just yet.  Put the brownies in the refrigerator for a few hours to chill.
•Cut into squares, this recipe yields about 16 to 20 brownies.

More Than Just An Accessory

Of course the right clothes are essential to a great ensemble, however I've always believed that more often than not it is the accessories that make or break an outfit.  There are times when I walk out of the house with four bracelets and three rings on and think I may be being a bit excessive.  Then there are times when I see editorial pieces like this and am glad that I trusted my gut.

Although the summer is still in full swing, I can't help but be inspired by all of the fall fashion being featured in magazines, blogs and fashion shows.  For this reason I couldn't help but incorporate a pair of tights into my outfit today.  To keep it light I wore a Dries Van Noten short sleeved jacket, T by Alexander Wang tank, 7 For All Mankind shorts, F21 necklace, House of Harlow ring and Andrea & Joen heels.

I'll be leaving for my semester abroad in London in less than a month, and rather than pack at the last minute and risk forgetting some essential items, I'm going about the task with list in hand and magazine tear sheets in the other.  Though I fully intend on making some purchases from the fall lines, I am loving the way that my summer pieces can work for fall with just a few easy adjustments.  One of my summer pieces I'm going to take with me?  A strapless floral dress.  Though it typically screams summer, I think it would look great with a long-sleeved tee and boots.

Other things I think will translate in the fall season?  My army green military jacket seen here, and my Phillip Lim high-waisted shorts seen here.

I love going to art galleries of any kind, but one of my favorite art galleries will always remain the streets.    If I had even the slightest bit of artistic talent I think making murals would be something I'd do.  This weekend I took to the streets in a J Crew shirt and tie, J Brand cutoff shorts and a SNT workshop blazer.

I finished off my day with a malasada...which is sort of like a Portuguese donut, or what I consider a little piece of heaven.

When a free afternoon presented itself to me today I headed straight to Chinatown for a late lunch of dim sum and the best Chinese chicken salad.  While I was there I stopped in some art galleries and shops before heading home.  Today I wore a Banana Republic Top, thrifted leather skirt, Alice + Olivia belt and my go-to Jeffrey Campbell heels.  I opted out of bringing a purse along with me on my excursion today.  It's not that I don't adore bags and understand their purpose, but the skirt I thrifted has convenient pockets and I typically avoid lugging more than I need around at all costs.

I'm crazy for this editorial piece featuring Jessica Stam shot by Alexi Lubomirski for Harper's Bazaar's August issue.  I love the colors, the volume and that shot of the model next to the matador.

Rainbow Showers

There are some things in Hawaii that I admittedly take for granted like year-round warm temperatures and never needing to drive more than fifteen minutes to get anywhere in town.  There are also some things far too precious to go unappreciated like the rainbow shower trees at the local parks.  These pictures really do not do these trees justice, but seeing them recently reminded me of this lace top I've been dying to wear, and the rest of the outfit just fell into place.
