Designers like Jil Sander, Gucci and Max Mara have the art of color blocking down to a science this Spring/Summer season.  I personally think it's a great trend, and not one that needs to stay on the runways. Here are some pieces that can easily be incorporated into a fully color-blocked look.

Will you be embracing the color block trend this Spring?

A Break From Spring

Tahoe was exactly what I needed--great skiing and family time. Although I am happy to be out of what was easily the biggest snow storm I have yet to experience, I miss the village already.  Dressing for cold weather can be challenging, I personally find it a difficult task to feel put together while wearing approximately seven layers of clothing.  Since it is Spring after all, I opted out for my usual black and wore a beige Anthropologie coat with a Vince sweater, H&M scarf, Rag & Bone jeans and Corso Como boots.

Spring is coming and I for one could not be more excited.  In anticipation of some consistent warm weather I am in the market for some new sunglasses and will  likely be embracing the trend of translucent frames.  I'm finding it quite hard to narrow it down, but as of now a certain pair of Tom Ford glasses are calling my name.

Which are your favorites?

This week has been busy in the best way possible.  My family and I have had a great time in Las Vegas, packed our bags (which always happen to be much too full after leaving Vegas) and have left for Lake Tahoe coats and scarves in hand.  I am looking forward to being in the snow almost as much as drinking hot chocolate by the fire, and I will be sure to post once I'm settled.

5-Minute Manicure

My sister has been giving me a present each day leading up to my birthday next week, and this was present number one.  Being in Vegas, I felt I needed my nails to be worthy of the occasion so I applied these nail polish strips in 'Glitz Blitz' for fun.  I've spent countless hours and dollars on having gel nails done over the past year and have found that these look (surprisingly) the same and took me approximately five minutes from start to finish.

I have been taking advantage of the warm weather in Las Vegas by wearing shorts and skirts before I leave for Lake Tahoe in a few days.  I love the look of a chambray skirt worn with something much more feminine like a lace skirt.  Paired with some tan boots I think it is a great outfit as we head into Spring.

Into The Desert

I've been incredibly busy lately finishing up my schoolwork, but I am now ecstatic to be on spring break and to post about what I'll be doing.  I've spent the past few days in the California desert watching my favorite tennis player, Rafael Nadal, among others play at the BNP Paribas open.  Walking around downtown Palm Springs and lunching at the Viceroy has been nothing short of amazing, so I thought I would post what I wore and a few pictures of my trip so far.  Tomorrow I'm off to Vegas, and I'll be sure to post from there as well!

Spring Shoe Trend: Flatforms

The latest trend of Spring 2011 is a shoe which has now been coined the 'flatform.' Although they have their fair share of critics, I tend to find them a promising compromise between uber-painful platforms and much-too-low flats which do nothing to lengthen your legs.  Here are my favorite picks...

Funktional

The weather has been fickle lately here in Southern California.  One week its eighty degrees, the next its consistently fifty, and the last week I made very good use out of my Hunter rain boots.  Needless to say I have been buying versatile pieces that can adapt to whatever weather comes my way.  I went out to dinner for a friend's birthday and decided to wear my Funktional dress with black tights, Andrea & Joen platforms, an Alice + Olivia belt and a Gorjana necklace.
